Academic freedom in the re‐imagined post‐Humboldtian Europe

This editorial presents the special issue on challenges of academic freedom in Europe, predominantly Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The volume provides a novel empirical stream research, urging scholars to face emerging discourse problems contemporary higher education systems that were largely overlooked analyses dominated by West-oriented global neoliberalism following collapse USSR. Acknowledging collision collusion between competition for excellence predomination national interests, we propose re-conceptualize premises prospects education. We advance idea post-Humboldtian university, assuming modern universities are increasingly influenced geopolitical imperatives depreciate freedom. exemplifies these concerns detailed such contexts as Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, comparative analysis across Great Britain continental Europe.
